Our Mission

Goals and Dreams for 2003

Medical Operations –
2002 was plagued with chronic shortages of medicines and other supplies due to limited financial resources. Late in the year, we developed our partnership with King Pharmaceutical which greatly relieved our medicine needs. Our current need to continue operations at the two stationary clinics is approximately $36,000.00 per year. Our goal is to always have basic medicines and supplies on hand to meet the needs of our communities.

Our Goals include:

  • Add at least one doctor / nurse team to our staff and provide a sturdy 4-wheel drive vehicle so that this team(s) can move from village to village on a daily basis.
  • Provide supplies and educational materials to equip full-time nurses in Limon de la Cerca and Nacaome to provide community based health / hygiene / nutrition programs. These nurses should also be available to travel with the mobile medical team(s).
  • Provide staffing, food and other basic needs for a neo-natal nutrition program to be administered at each stationary clinic site.

Full implementation of all these goals will run an estimated $70,000 to $100,000 per year.

Educational Support - As with the medical operations, 2002 was a lean year for contributions compared with earlier years. Notwithstanding, we managed to provide salaries for our two 9th grade teachers as well as other needed salaries and supplies. For 2003, we are expanding our 9th grade program to four teachers. These salaries, in addition to the security guard and support funding will cost us $12,000.00 per year.

    Our Goals include:

  • ·Scholarships for the most promising graduates to go on to “colegio”.
  • Expand the school lunch program so that every child is assured at least one adequate meal per day
  • Expand the computer lab and fund an additional teacher.
  • Expand the adult vocational education program to provide employment skills.
  • Full implementation of all these goals will run an estimated $30,000 to $50,000 per year.

Special Projects – Opportunities will continue to present themselves from time to time. As always, these will be funded through project-specific fund-raisers.
