Special Projects
Over the past two and one half years, Esperanza has been involved in a number of special projects and has mentored and nurtured a number of other benevolent groups. Funding for these projects and activities were raised through special, targeted campaigns. Some notable activities include:
El Salvador Earthquake Relief – In December 2000, El Salvador was devastated by a series of violent, deadly earthquakes. Esperanza sent funds for relief teams from the clinic operations in
Choluteca and Nacaome to bring medical supplies and doctors, food, drinking water, and other emergency supplies. It was gratifying to see the Honduran teams reaching out to their neighbors . Family Housing – After floodwaters devastated Nacaome, the leader of the local congregation worked tirelessly to enlist aid and support and supervised the construction of a new colonia for flood victims. After leading efforts to build over 50 new homes, Santos and his family were, themselves without a home. Esperanza raised specific donations to build a home for the Ramirez family. Esperanza also assisted in fund-raising to bring water and electricity to the new colonia
